I kill any animals that attack me and doesn’t give benefit to the earth as earthlings. For example sharks, huge rats thats bigger than cat, cats too all they do is gangbanging, wild dogs with rabies? kill. Also mosquitoes, flies, n cockroach.

isnt it inhuman? nope.

No one cares for them anyways. They cant live properly only eat unknown things out of the trash. Either they gotta live wildly somewhere they can be self-sufficient and be predators or be human pet.

1) keep the dog population under control. Kill them or fixed their genitals (which i think is more inhuman than killing them).

2) long-term control: vaccination, animal policies, get the animal off the street. Find those irresponsible owner and fine them.

Its inhuman if u torture them. U gonna get killed eventually if u try to protect dangerous animal. I was attacked by a wild dog once back in Indo and I have no phobia or hate for it. Matter of facts now I love dogs. They are smart and easier to train. I dont have one because i have better things to take care off.

There Are No Moslem Terrorist Organizations In Indonesia

From David Leibovitz

Sydney, Australia

10-13-5

Hi Jeff,

Today is Yom Kipur, the holiest day of the year in our Jewish calendar. It is also the saddest day in Australian history. Last night, the biggest fraud in the history of Australia was disclosed to the Australian people on TV.

The Former President of Indonesia (who is widely known in Indonesia as the only honest Indonesian politician there) directly stated IN NO UNCERTAIN TERMS that the Indonesian police and/or military have perpetrated the infamous Bali bombing in which over 200 people were killed...about half of them Australians.

To remind you, this is the blind former President who is honest and religious and beyond the possibility of being corrupted. His attitude was similar to Israel's former Prime Minister Lady Golda Meir, something like: "terrorism shmerorism, there is no such thing as 'Moslem terrorism.'"

In an one hour documentary/research/investigative program on SBS-TV Date-Line program last night; all the fabricated cover-up story about 'terrorist Moslem Organizations' in Indonesia fell apart.

THEY DO NOT EXIST! They were all created by Indonesian Military Intelligence!

We Australians know our Indonesian neighbors very well, they are a very gentle nation under strict military Nazi-like repression, and informed Australians never believed the official cover-up story about 'Moslem terrorists organizations' in Indonesia (Please see the excellent research done by the late Australian journalist/researcher Joe Vialls. Joe was the ONLY Australian journalist who dared then to write the truth).

The program last night established beyond any doubt the followings:

A. The former Indonesian President is the most honest personality in Indonesian politics, and has no reason to lie.

B. The Indonesian public are scared for their lives and are very afraid to speak up. Watching the response of the poor Indonesian citizens last night, reminded me as a Jew the terrible times we Jews had in Nazi Germany.

C. All Indonesian researchers and journalist agree last night, that 'Moslems terrorists' DO NOT EXIST, they were all created by Indonesian Military Intelligence.

D. The Indonesian Generals are corrupt, they boasted on TV that they got 50 million dollars from the Americans, in order to 'fight terrorism'. In reality, they created 'terrorism' and pocketed the money.

E. ALL 'coordinated bombings' in Indonesia against Moslems, Christians and tourists are done by the Indonesian military. It was stated flatly that NO terrorist organization could have possibly created such 'coordinated bombings'.

F. The former Indonesian president repeated, WORD FOR WORD, the allegations by the late Australian journalist Joe Vialls, and many other Indonesian. He said that the first small Bali bomb was planted by Ambrosi (who got the death penalty). BUT! - the former president insisted - (as Vialls insisted), that the second big coordinated, blast which destroyed Bali business center and Bali,s economy, was done by the Indonesian Police or military. Over 200 tourists and locals lost their lives in this blast!

G. Indonesian Generals lied on TV.

H. Indonesian generals has been extremely successful in fooling western governments, creating 'terrorism' and pocketing the money.

I. The Indonesian former president was very sad, his facial expressions were of total helplessness, he indicated that there is no hope to end corruption in Indonesia.

This is UNQUESTIONABLY the saddest day in the history of Australians:

OUR American controlled 'media' have been bombarding us daily with endless fabricated 'Moslem terrorists' stories daily for about two years now.

OUR 'media' is encouraging us to spy on each other and to 'report suspicious terrorist activity'.

OUR 'media' keep reminding us that our government spent thirty million dollars to manufacture and post to us, magnetic stickers to be hanging on every Australian home refrigerator, warning us to report 'Moslem terrorism activity' with telephone number attached.

OUR 'media,'keep regurgitating 'CIA reports' about illusionary 'Moslem terrorists' planning to attack Australia.

OUR 'media'' is posting TV-commercials almost every hour encouraging us to 'look under every bed' in order to find 'Moslem terrorists'.

OUR 'media' is advertising toll free telephone number on TV almost every hour to 'encourage' us to 'report terrorism'.

OUR 'media' is creating an anti-Moslem paranoia.

OUR 'media' is indirectly siwing fear against Moslems.

OUR 'media's' behavior is a little short of a Hate Crime against Moslem brothers.

OUR 'media' never mentions that our Jewish/Christian families are falling apart.

While Moslem families are almost always religious with high moral values.

OUR 'media' never mentioned the good character of the Moslem the people and the Moslem religion, mostly praying 5 times a day, while we Jews and Christians practically never visit Synagogues and churches.

OUR Australian 'media' is mentioning daily, names of fabricated 'terrorists' and 'terrorist organizations', without ANY real evidence. NOT ONLY THAT! new institutions are been created almost daily to report to the 'media' about 'terrorism'.

NOW WE KNOW it is all mostly fabricated, they are all stampeding to the news rooms to release their latest disinformation, to deflect the Australian public from knowing the truth.

OUR 'news media' daily, repeatedly, endlessly is 'interviewing' armchair 'experts' who always give us the latest story they get from the US. All of a sudden almost every Australian University has a 'terrorism expert'.

OUR 'media' always refused (or is not allowed to interview) the only journalist in the history of Australia who already proved himself (on most occasions) to be the ONLY terrorism expert in Australia. Joe Vialls. FULL STOP!

OUR 'media' never reported where the one billion dollars 'tsunami aid' we gave Indonesia has gone?

OUR 'media' is not allowed to EVER mention what already most informed Australians know, THAT 911 WAS AN 'INSIDE JOB'.

OUR 'media' assured us before we joined Bush/Blair Iraq massacre that: THERE ARE NO MOSLEMS TERRORISTS IN AUSTRALIA, and therefore we should not worry about any adverse effects sending our Australian military forces to join the occupation forces in Iraq. Now, we hear daily 'reports' that Moslems 'may be' infiltrating every section of Australian society. WHAT A BACK-FLIP by our Australian 'media' in less than two years.

Now, after all this spectacular Australian 'media' anti-Moslem hate campaign, ALL THE AMERICAN'S TERRORISM, HOUSE OF CARDS OF FABRICATED DISINFORMATION IS NOW FALLING APART!

Last night's program highlighted that important HONEST PATRIOTIC element in Australian journalism STILL EXIST. While ALL the American press continue to maintain the 911 cover-up (as if the internet do not exist), here in Australia we still have a VERY small group of honest Australian journalists who dare to bring the truth to the Australian people, and who are not corrupted by American pressure and money!

We Australians are have been aware for years about the massive corruption in Indonesia. As a matter of fact, when we gave Indonesia one billion dollars 'tsunami aid', IT WAS THE INDONESIAN PUBLIC who raised eyebrows asking us HOW COULD WE POSSIBLY GIVE MONEY TO SUCH CORRUPT REGIME?

We Australians, never believed before that the Americans would be successful in corrupting a the world's largest Moslem country, to create 'Moslem terrorists organizations', to act against the Moslem world, in total contradiction to their own religion, to bomb their own cities, to massacre their own citizens, to destroy their own economy! Well, money can talk.

We are urging all our American brothers to watch/listen to last night SBS-TV program. It would be the 'EUREKA MOMENT' of your lives. For the first time it would open the eyes of those of you who still believe that 'Bin-Laden' is behind 911.

FOR THE FIRST TIME, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO CONNECT THE DOTS,.

Australians now know the truth.

NEVER AGAIN will we be fooled...

Regards, David

BALI ANCIENT PHOTO

This pictures about bali, bali ancient, bali old style.. culture ancient life

<img style="display:block; was the name, as provided to the Portuguese commander Jorge de Meneses while sheltering there in 1526, of the people living on Waigeo, one of the Raja Ampat Islands west of the Vogelkop Peninsula, now part of the West Papua province of Indonesia. The Spanish pilot Martin de Uriarte in the same year and Andrés de Urdaneta two years later named these islands "Islas de Papuas". Until the 18th century, "the Papuas" exclusively referred to the Raja Ampat Islands and later the Vogelkop peninsula, while the rest of the large island was known solely as New Guinea since 1545. Over time, anthropologists, linguists and others started to use the term Papuan for the cultures, languages, and people of all of New Guinea. It has been proposed that "Papua" finds its origin in the Biak phrase sup i papwa, meaning "the land below the sunset", used by the people of Biak to indicate Waigeo, though the term could also simply be a proper name from Raja Ampat itself. The simple construction of the puppets belies their versatility, expressiveness and aptitude for imitating human dance. Today, wayang golek is mainly associated with Sundanese culture of West Java. However the wooden wayang also known in Central Java as Wayang Menak, originated from Kudus Central Java.

Little is known for certain about the history of wayang golek, but scholars have speculated that it most likely originated in China and arrived in Java sometime in the 17th century. Some of the oldest traditions of wayang golek are from the north coast of Java in what is called the pasisir region. This is home to some of the oldest Muslim kingdoms in Java and it is likely the wayang golek grew in popularity through telling the wayang menak stories of Amir Hamza, the uncle of Muhammad. These stories are still widely performed in Kabumen, Tegal, and Jepara as wayang golek menak, and in Cirebon, wayang golek cepak. Legendary origins of wayang golek attribute their invention to the Muslim saint Wali Sunan Kudus, who used the medium to proselytize Muslim values.

In the 18th century the tradition moved into the mountainous region of of Priangan West Java where it eventually was used to tell stories of the Ramayana and the Mahabarata in a tradition now called Wayang Golek Purwa, which can be found in Bandung, Bogor and Jakarta. The adoption of Javanese Mataram kejawen culture by Sundanese aristocrats was probably the remnant of Mataram influence over the Priangan region during the reign of expansive Sultan Agung. While main characters from Ramayana and Mahabharata are similar with wayang kulit purwa version of Central Java, some of punakawan (servant also jester) were rendered in Sundanese names and characteristics, such as Cepot or Astrajingga as Bagong, Dawala or Udel as Petruk. Wayang golek purwa has become the most popular form of wayang golek today and the most famous puppeteer family is the Sunarya family which has produced several generations of stellar performers.

Tangkuban Perahu~The Mithology of West Java

Tangkuban Perahu (spelt Tangkuban Parahu in the local Sundanese dialect) is a dormant volcano 30 km north of the city of Bandung, the provincial capital of West Java, Indonesia. It last erupted in 1959. It is a popular tourist attraction where tourists can hike or ride to the edge of the crater to view the hot water springs and boiling mud up close, and buy eggs cooked on the hot surface.[2] This stratovolcano is on the island of Java and last erupted in 1983. Together with Mount Burangrang and Bukit Tunggul, those are remnants of the ancient Mount Sunda after the plinian eruption caused the Caldera to collapse.

In April 2005 the Directorate of Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation raised an alert, forbidding visitors from going up the volcano. The story tells of "Dayang Sumbi", a beauty who lived in West Java. She cast away her son "Sangkuriang" for disobedience, and in her sadness was granted the power of eternal youth by the gods. After many years in exile, Sangkuriang decided to return to his home, long after the two had forgotten and failed to recognize each other. Sangkuriang fell in love with Dayang Sumbi and planned to marry her, only for Dayang Sumbi to recognize his birthmark just as he was about to go hunting. In order to prevent the marriage from taking place, Dayang Sumbi asked Sangkuriang to build a dam on the river Citarum and to build a large boat to cross the river, both before the sunrise. Sangkuriang meditated and summoned mythical ogre-like creatures -buta hejo or green giant(s)- to do his bidding. Dayang Sumbi saw that the tasks were almost completed and called on her workers to spread red silk cloths east of the city, to give the impression of impending sunrise. Sangkuriang was fooled, and upon believing that he had failed, kicked the dam and the unfinished boat, resulting in severe flooding and the creation of Tangkuban Perahu from the hull of the boat.

Lembang~ City of my birth

Lembang is a town in the province of West Java in Java, Indonesia. He was well known as Dalem Cipeujueh. The town of Suci was originally the capital of the new Limbangan Regency. However it was thought that Suci did not meet the requirements of a capital because of the area was crowded and quite narrow.

Regarding this matter, Regent Limbangan Adipati Adiwijaya formed a committee to find a suitable place for the capital of the Regency. In the beginning, the committee found Cimurah, about 3 km to the East Suci (currently the village is known by the name of Pidayeuheun Village). However, in this place clean water was difficult to obtain so the place not regarded as suitable to become the capital. The committee then decided that a suitable place was about 5 Km to west of Suci. In addition to fertile land, the place has a spring that flows to the River Cimanuk and beautiful scenery, surrounded by mountains, like Mount Cikuray, About Yogyakarta ~ Special city at Indonesia

The area of the city of Yogyakarta is 32.5 km². While the city spreads in all directions from the kraton (the Sultan's palace), the core of the modern city is to the north, centring around Dutch colonial-era buildings and the commercial district. Jalan Malioboro, with rows of pavement vendors and nearby market and malls, is the primary shopping street for tourists in the city, while Jalan Solo, further north, is a shopping district more frequented by locals. At the southern end of Malioboro, on the east side is the large local market of Beringharjo, not far from Fort Vredeburg a restored Dutch fort.

At Yogyakarta's centre is the kraton, or Sultan's palace. Surrounding the kraton is a densely populated residential neighbourhood that occupies land that was formerly the Sultan's sole domain. Evidence of this former use remains in the form of old walls and the ruined Taman Sari, built in 1758 as a pleasure garden. No longer used by the sultan, the garden had been largely abandoned. For a time, it was used for housing by palace employees and descendants. Reconstruction efforts began in 2004, and an effort to renew the neighbourhood around the kraton has begun. The site is a developing tourist attraction.

Nearby to the city of Yogyakarta is Mount Merapi. The northern outskirts of the city run up to the southern slopes of the mountain in Sleman Regency (Indonesian language–Kabupaten). Gunung Merapi (literally Mountain of Fire in Indonesian/Javanese), is an active Stratavolcano located on the border between Central Java and Yogyakarta, Indonesia. It is the most active volcano in Indonesia and has erupted regularly since 1548. The volcano last erupted in November 2010.

Holiday in Bali ~ Night Club, bar, Spa..

Night club at bali :

This is me, but I'm not yet a deejay still in training.. haha.. From the airport to the hotel, go to the taxi counter tell them you want to go to Tuban they already have price list for the area. I reckon it would cost 50,000 rupiah ($6) if not less.

Always use your right hand if you want to give something to the locals. Don't step into their tiny ritual flower baskets - Balinesse make them every morning and put them on their doorsteps.

If you want to buy something, start with 1/3 of the opening price - best time to buy is either when they just open or before they close the shop. Don't try anything for fun unless you intend to buy.

Price some hotels in bali..

Komaneka at Bisma, Ubud
$194 - $520<br The island has an area of 775 km2 (299 sq mi), and is mountainous, well watered, and fertile. The main city and seaport is Ambon (1990 pop. 275,888), which is also the capital of Maluku province. Ambon has an airport, and is home to the Pattimura University, a state university, and a few private universities.
Ambon Island lies off the south-west coast of the much larger Seram island. It is on the north side of the Banda Sea, part of a chain of volcanic isles that form a circle around the sea. It is 51 km (32 mi) in length, and is of very irregular shape, being almost divided into two. The south-eastern and smaller portion, a peninsula (called Leitimor) is united to the northern (Hitoe) by a narrow neck of land. Ambon city lies on the north-west of Leitimor, facing Hitoe, and has a safe harbor on Amboyna Bay.

The highest mountains, Wawani 1,100 m (3,600 ft) and Salahutu 1,225 m (4,020 ft), have hot springs and solfataras. They are volcanoes, and the mountains of the neighboring Uliaser islands, extinct volcanoes. Granite and serpentine rocks predominate, but the shores of Amboyna Bay are of chalk, and contain stalactite caves.

Wild areas of Ambon Island are covered by tropical rainforest, part of the Seram rain forests ecoregion, together with neighboring Seram. Seram, Ambon, and most of Maluku are part of Wallacea, the group of Indonesian islands that are separated by deep water from both the Asian and Australian continents, and have never been linked to the continents by land.

As a result of this isolation, Ambon has few indigenous mammals; birds are more abundant. The insect diversity of the island, however, is rich, particularly in butterflies. Seashells are obtained in great numbers and variety. Tortoise-shell is also exported.

History

In 1513, the Portuguese were the first Europeans to land in Ambon, and it became the new centre for Portuguese activities in Maluku following their expulsion from Ternate.[2] The Portuguese, however, were regularly attacked from native Muslims on the island's northern coast, in particular Hitu, which had trading and religious links with major port cities on Java's north coast. They established a factory in 1521, but did not obtain peaceable possession of it until 1580. Indeed, the Portuguese never managed to control the local trade in spices, and failed in attempts to establish their authority over the Banda Islands, the nearby centre of nutmeg production.

The Portuguese were dispossessed by the Dutch already in 1605, when Steven van der Hagen took over the fort and without a single shot. Ambon was the headquarters of the Dutch East Indies Company (VOC) from 1610 to 1619 until the founding of Batavia (now Jakarta) by the Dutch.[3] About 1615 the English formed a settlement on the island at Cambello, which they retained until 1623, when it was destroyed by the Dutch. Frightful tortures inflicted on its unfortunate inhabitants were connected with its destruction. In 1654, after many fruitless negotiations, Oliver Cromwell compelled the United Provinces to give the sum of 300,000 gulden, as compensation to the descendants of those who suffered in the "Ambon Massacre", together with Manhattan.[4] In 1673 the poet John Dryden produced his tragedy Amboyna; or the Cruelties of the Dutch to the English Merchants. In 1796 the British, under Admiral Rainier, captured Ambon, but restored it to the Dutch at the peace of Amiens, in 1802. It was retaken by the British in 1810, but once more restored to the Dutch in 1814. Ambon used to be the world center of clove production; until the nineteenth century, the Dutch prohibited the rearing of the clove-tree in all the other islands subject to their rule, in order to secure the monopoly to Ambon.

During the Dutch period, Ambon city was the seat of the Dutch resident and military commander of the Moluccas. The town was protected by Fort Victoria, and a 1911 encyclopedia characterized it as "a clean little town with wide streets, well planted". The population was divided into two classes orang burger or citizens, and orang negri or villagers, the former being a class of native origin enjoying certain privileges conferred on their ancestors by the old Dutch East India Company. There were also, besides the Dutch, some Arabs, Chinese and a few Portuguese settlers.

Ambon city was the site of a major Dutch military base, which was captured from Allied forces by the Japanese in the Battle of Ambon (1942), during World War II. The battle was followed by the summary execution of more than 300 Allied POWs, in the Laha massacre.

Indonesia declared its independence in 1945. As a result of ethnic and religious tensions, as well as President Sukarno's making of Indonesia a centralised state, Ambon was the scene of a revolt against the Indonesian government, which resulted in the rebellion of Republic of the South Moluccas in 1950.

Banda Neira Part 2

The Portuguese

In August 1511 on behalf of the king of Portugal, Afonso de Albuquerque conquered Malacca, which at the time was the hub of Asian trade. In November of that year, after having secured Malacca and learning of the Bandas' location, Albuquerque sent an expedition of three ships led by his good friend António de Abreu to find them. Malay pilots, either recruited or forcibly conscripted, guided them via Java, the Lesser Sundas and Ambon to Banda, arriving in early 1512.[2] The first Europeans to reach the Bandas, the expedition remained in Banda for about one month, purchasing and filling their ships with Banda's nutmeg and mace, and with cloves in which Banda had a thriving entrepôt trade.[3] D'Abreu sailed through Ambon while his second in command Francisco Serrão went ahead towards Maluku islands, was shipwrecked and ended up in Ternate.[4] Distracted by hostilities else where in the archipelago, such as Ambon and Ternate, the Portuguese did not return until 1529; a Portuguese trader Captain Garcia landed troops in the Bandas. Five of the Banda islands were within gunshot of each other and he realised that a fort on the main island Neira would give him full control of the group. The Bandanese were however hostile to such a plan and their warlike antics were both costly and tiresome to Garcia whose men were attacked when they attempted to build a fort. From then on, the Portuguese were infrequent visitors to the islands preferring to buy their nutmeg from traders in Malacca.[5]

Unlike other eastern Indonesian islands, such as Ambon, Solor, Ternate and Morotai, the Bandanese displayed no enthusiasm for Christianity or the Europeans who brought it in the sixteenth century, and no serious attempt was made to Christianise the Bandanese.[4] Maintaining their independence, the Bandanese never allowed the Portuguese to build a fort or a permanent post in the islands. Ironically though, it was this lack of ports which brought the Dutch to trade at Banda instead of the clove islands of Ternate and Tidore.

The coming of the Dutch
Fort Nassau in 1646

The Dutch followed the Portuguese to Banda but were to have a much more dominating and lasting presence. Dutch-Bandanese relations were mutually resentful from the outset, with Holland’s first merchants complaining of Bandanese reneging on agreed deliveries and price, and cheating on quantity and quality. For the Bandanese, on the other hand, although they welcomed another competitor purchaser for their spices, the items of trade offered by the Dutch—heavy woollens, and damasks, unwanted manufactured goods, for example—were usually unsuitable in comparison to traditional trade products. The Javanese, Arab and Indian, and Portuguese traders for example brought indispensable items along steel knives, copper, medicines and prized Chinese porcelain.

As much as the Dutch disliked dealing with the Bandanese, the trade was a highly profitable one with spices selling for 300 times the purchase price in Banda. This amply justified the expense and risk in shipping them to Europe. The allure of such profits saw an increasing number of Dutch expeditions; it was soon seen that competition from each would eat into all their profits. Thus the competitors united to form the Vereenigde Oostindische Compagnie (VOC) (the ‘Dutch East Indies Company).[6]

Until the early seventeenth century the Bandas were ruled by a group of leading citizens, the orang kaya (literally 'rich men'), each of these was a head of district. At the time nutmeg was one of the "fine spices" kept expensive in Europe by disciplined manipulation of the market, but a desirable commodity for Dutch traders in the ports of India as well; economic historian Fernand Braudel notes that India consumed twice as much as Europe [7]. A number of Banda’s orang kaya were persuaded (or deceived) by the Dutch to sign a treaty granting the Dutch a monopoly on spice purchases. Even though the Bandanese had little understanding of the significance of the treaty known as 'The Eternal Compact', or that not all Bandanese leaders had signed, it would later be used to justify Dutch troops being brought in to defend their monopoly.

The Bandanese soon grew tired of the Dutch actions; the low prices, the useless trade items, and the enforcement of Dutch sole rights to the purchase of the coveted spices. The end of the line for the Bandanese came in 1609 when the Dutch reinforced Fort Nassau on Bandanaira Island. The orang kaya called a meeting with the Dutch admiral and forty of his highest-ranking men and ambushed and killed them all. [6]

English-Dutch rivalry
Fort Belgica in 1824

While Portuguese and Spanish activity in the region had weakened, the English had built fortified trading posts on tiny Ai and Run islands, ten to twenty kilometres from the main Banda Islands. With the British paying higher prices, they were significantly undermining Dutch aims for a monopoly, and as Dutch-British tensions increased, the Dutch built, in 1611, the larger and more strategic Fort Belgica, above Fort Nassau. In 1615, the Dutch invaded Ai with 900 men and the British retreated to Run where they regrouped. That same night, the British launched a surprise counter-attack on Ai retaking the island and killing 200 Dutchmen. A year later, a much stronger Dutch force attacked Ai which itself was initially hampered by cannonade fire, but after a month of siege the defenders ran out of ammunition and were slaughtered. The Dutch strengthened the fort renaming it 'Fort Revenge'. European control of the Bandas was still contested up until 1667 when, under the Treaty of Breda (1667), the British traded the small island of Run for Manhattan, giving the Dutch full control of the Banda archipelago.

On August 9th, 1810. The British captured the Islands and accepted their surrender from the Dutch after engaging the Fortifications in action by Captain C. Cole, with the British warships of HMS Caroline thirty-six guns, HMS Piedmontaise, thirty-eight guns, Captain Foote and the HMS Barracouta, eighteen guns. Captain Kenah, having on board about one hundred men of the Madras European Regiment after sailing from Madras with supplies for Amboyna, recently captured by the British.

Massacre of the Bandanese

Newly-appointed VOC governor-general Jan Pieterszoon Coen set about enforcing Dutch monopoly over the Banda’s spice trade. In 1621 well-armed soldiers were landed on Bandaneira Island and within a few days they had also occupied neighbouring and larger Lontar. The orang kaya were forced at gunpoint to sign an unfeasibly arduous treaty, one that was in fact impossible to keep, thus providing Coen an excuse to use superior Dutch force against the Bandanese.[6] The Dutch quickly noted a number of alleged violations of the new treaty, in response to which Coen launched a punitive massacre. Japanese mercenaries were hired to deal with the orang kaya, forty of whom were beheaded with their heads impaled and displayed on bamboo spears.

The population of the Banda Islands prior to Dutch conquest is generally estimated to have been around 13-15,000 people, some of whom were Malay and Javanese traders, as well as Chinese and Arabs. The actual numbers of Bandanese who were killed, forcibly expelled or fled the islands in 1621 remain uncertain. But readings of historical sources suggest around one thousand Bandanese likely survived in the islands, and were spread throughout the nutmeg groves as forced labourers [8]. The Dutch subsequently re-settled the islands with imported slaves, convicts and indentured labourers (to work the nutmeg plantations), as well as immigrants from elsewhere in Indonesia. Most survivors fled as refugees to the islands of their trading partners, in particular Keffing and Guli Guli in the Seram Laut chain and Kei Besar. [6] Shipments of surviving Bandanese were also sent to Batavia (Jakarta) to work as slaves in developing the city and its fortress. Some 530 of these individuals were later returned to the islands because of their much-needed expertise in nutmeg cultivation (something sorely lacking among newly-arrived Dutch settlers) [9].

Whereas up until this point the Dutch presence had been simply as traders, that was sometimes treaty-based, the Banda conquest marked the start of the first overt colonial rule in Indonesia albeit under the auspices of the VOC.

VOC Monopoly
Banda Neira in 1724

Having decimated the islands' population, Coen divided the productive land of approximately half a million nutmeg trees into sixty-eight 1.2-hectare perken. These land parcels were then handed to Dutch planters known as perkeniers of which 34 were on Lontar, 31 on Ai and 3 on Neira. With few Bandanese left to work them, slaves from elsewhere were brought in. Now enjoying control of the nutmeg production the VOC paid the perkeniers 1/122nd of the Dutch market price for nutmeg, however, the perkeniers still profited immensely building substantial villas with opulent imported European decorations.[citation needed]

The outlying island of Run was harder for the VOC to control and they exterminated all nutmeg trees there. The production and export of nutmeg was a VOC monopoly for almost two hundred years. Fort Belgica, one of many forts built by the Dutch East India Company, is one of the largest remaining European forts in Indonesia.[citation needed]

Religious violence between Christians and Muslims, spilling over from intercommunal conflict in Ambon affected the islands in the late 1990s. The disturbance and resulting deaths damaged the previously prosperous tourism industry.[10]

Geography

There are seven inhabited islands and several that are uninhabited. The inhabited islands are:
The active volcano Gunung Api in the Banda Islands

Main group:

* Banda Neira, or Naira, the island with the administrative capital and a small airfield (as well as accommodation for visitors).
* Gunung Api, an active volcano with a peak of about 650 m
* Banda Besar is the largest island, 12 km long and 3 km wide. It has three main settlements, Lonthoir, Selamon and Waer.

Some distance to the west:

* Pulau Ai or Pulau Ay
* Pulau Run, further west again.

To the east:

* Pulau Pisang, also known as Syahrir.

To the southeast:

* Pulau Hatta formerly Rosengain or Rozengain

Others, possibly small and/or uninhabited, are:

* Nailaka, a short distance northeast of Pulau Run
* Batu Kapal
* Manuk, an active volcano
* Pulau Keraka or Pulau Karaka (Crab Island)
* Manukang
* Hatta Reef

[edit] Bandanese culture

Most of the present-day inhabitants of the Banda Islands are descended from migrants and plantation labourers from various parts of Indonesia, as well as from indigenous Bandanese. They have inherited aspects of pre-colonial ritual practices in the Bandas that are highly valued and still performed, giving them a distinct and very local cultural identity.[citation needed]

In addition, Bandanese speak a distinct Malay Dialect which has several features distinguishing it from Ambonese Malay, the better-known and more widespread dialect that forms a lingua franca in central and southeast Maluku. Bandanese Malay is famous in the region for its unique, lilting accent, but it also has a number of locally identifying words in its lexicon, many of them borrowings or loanwords from Dutch.[citation needed]
Gunung Api as seen from Fort Belgica on Banda Neira.
Note people at left.

Examples :

* fork : forok (Dutch vork)
* ants : mir (Dutch mier)
* spoon : lepe (Dutch lepel)
* difficult : lastek (Dutch lastig)
* floor : plur (Dutch vloer)
* porch: stup (Dutch stoep)

Banda Malay shares many Portuguese loanwords with Ambonese Malay not appearing in the national language, Indonesian. But it has comparatively fewer, and they differ in pronunciation.

Examples :

* turtle : tetaruga (Banda Malay); totoruga (Ambonese Malay) (from Portuguese tartaruga)
* throat : gargontong (Banda Malay); gargangtang (Ambonese Malay) (from Portuguese garganta)

Finally, and most noticeably, Banda Malay uses some distinct pronouns. The most immediately distinguishing is that of the second person singular familiar form of address: pané.

The descendants of some of the Bandanese who fled Dutch conquest in the seventeenth century live in the Kai Islands (Kepulauan Kei) to the east of the Banda group, where a version of the original Banda language is still spoken in the villages of Banda Eli and Banda Elat on Kai Besar Island. While long integrated into Kei Island society, residents of these settlements continue to value the historical origins of their ancestors.

Banda Neira

The Banda Islands (Indonesian: Kepulauan Banda) are a volcanic group of ten small volcanic islands in the Banda Sea, about 140 km south of Seram island and about 2000 km east of Java, and are part of the Indonesian province of Maluku. The main town and administrative centre is Bandanaira, located on the island of the same name. They rise out of 4–6 km deep ocean and have a total land area of approximately 180 km2. They have a population of about 15,000. Until the mid 19th century the Banda Islands were the world's only source of the spices nutmeg and mace, produced from the nutmeg tree. The islands are also popular destinations for scuba diving and snorkeling.

Pre-European history

Before the arrival of Europeans, Banda had an oligarchic form of government led by orang kaya ('powerful men') and the Bandanese had an active and independent role in trade throughout the archipelago.[1] Banda was the world's only source of nutmeg and mace, spices used as flavourings, medicines, preserving agents, that were at the time highly valued in European markets; sold by Arab traders to the Venetians for exorbitant prices. The traders did not divulge the exact location of their source and no European was able to deduce their location.

The first written accounts of Banda are in Suma Oriental, a book written by the Portuguese apothecary Tomé Pires who based in Malacca from 1512 to 1515 but who visited Banda several times. On his first visit, he interviewed the Portuguese and the far more knowledgeable Malay sailors in Malacca. He estimated the early sixteenth century population to be 2500-3000. He reported the Bandanese as being part of an Indonesia-wide trading network and the only native Malukan long-range traders taking cargo to Malacca, although shipments from Banda were also being made by Javanese traders.

In addition to the production of nutmeg and mace, Banda maintained significant entrepot trade; goods that moved through Banda included cloves from Ternate and Tidore in the north, bird of paradise feathers from the Aru Islands and western New Guinea, massoi bark for traditional medicines, and slaves. In exchange, Banda predominantly received rice and cloth; namely light cotton batik from Java, calicoes from India and ikat from the Lesser Sundas. In 1603, an average quality sarong-sized cloth traded for eighteen kilograms of nutmeg. Some of these textiles were then on-sold, ending up in Halmahera and New Guinea. Coarser ikat from the Lesser Sundas was traded for sago from the Kei Islands, Aru [[and Seram. ]]

General

* Braudel, Fernand. 1984. It is in the province of North Sulawesi, and faces Lembeh Island and the Lembeh Strait, which is known for its colorful marine life, in particular sea slugs. Bitung has a population of more than 100,000.

Manado is the capital of the North Sulawesi province of Indonesia. Manado is located at the Bay of Manado, and is surrounded by a mountainous area. The city has about 417,548 inhabitants. The municipality of Manado is divided into nine districts: Malalayang, Sario, Wanea, Wenang, Tikala, Mapanget, Singkil, Tuminting and Mapanget.

The Dutch East India Company built a fortress in Manado in 1658. As with regions in eastern Indonesia, Manado has undergone Christianization by Dutch missionaries, including Riedel and Schwarz. The Javanese prince Diponegoro was exiled to Manado by the Dutch government in 1830. The English biologist Alfred Wallace visited Manado in 1859, and praised the town for its beauty.

In 1919, the Apostolic Prefecture of Celebes was established in the city. In 1961, it was promoted as the Diocese of Manado.

The city was heavily damaged by Allied bombing during World War II. In 1958, the headquarters of the rebel movement Permesta were moved to Manado. When Permesta confronted the central government with demands for political, economic and regional reform, Jakarta responded in Manado by bombing the city in February 1958, and then invading in June 1958.

As the largest city in the region, Manado is a key tourist transit point for visitors. Sam Ratulangi International Airport of Manado is one of the main entry ports to Indonesia. In 2005, no less than 15,000 international passengers entered Indonesia via Sam Ratulangi International Airport. Ecotourism is the biggest attraction in Manado. Scuba diving and snorkelling on the nearby island of Bunaken are popular attractions. Ban Hin Kiong Temple is another tourism spot in the city, especially during the Chinese new year celebration. Souvenirs shops are located on B.W. Lapian street. Other places of interest are nearby Lake Tondano, Lokon Volcano, Klabat Volcano and Mahawu Volcano.

photograph-By: subhi Darajat

Maumere the last meet

Never forget about maumere.. together with my friend so fun and happy.. for 2 week our ship here.. and I don't know how my relation with all my friend next time. they look about dynamical social of life in indonesia with our culture.

I leave they, for the best peoples:
1. The name dates to the 18th century, far predating the formation of independent Indonesia. In 1850, George Earl, an English ethnologist, proposed the terms Indunesians — and, his preference, Malayunesians — for the inhabitants of the "Indian Archipelago or Malayan Archipelago". In the same publication, a student of Earl's, James Richardson Logan, used Indonesia as a synonym for Indian Archipelago. However, Dutch academics writing in East Indies publications were reluctant to use Indonesia. Instead, they used the terms Malay Archipelago (Maleische Archipel); the Netherlands East Indies (Nederlandsch Oost Indië), popularly Indië; the East (de Oost); and even Insulinde.

From 1900, the name Indonesia became more common in academic circles outside the Netherlands, and Indonesian nationalist groups adopted it for political expression.Adolf Bastian, of the University of Berlin, popularized the name through his book Indonesien oder die Inseln des Malayischen Archipels, 1884–1894. The first Indonesian scholar to use the name was Suwardi Suryaningrat (Ki Hajar Dewantara), when he established a press bureau in the Netherlands with the name Indonesisch Pers-bureau in 1913.

Hi, My name subhi, Subhi Darajat.. from indonesia and now I would like give some information for you how visit to indonesia and why? with my 'indo-slank english' I guide you now..

Indonesia is a country with thousand island, so you just better when use some water transportation to explore. you can download this PDF file for further information. click here
